      My exhaust...

So I finally got my car into the exhaust shop that welded my exhaust together to begin with...

Back in Feb I got 2.25" pipe with only one 18" resonator and a twister muffler (very low tone) and a $70 Magnaflow tip... All that with labor was $200.... Then a week later my flexpipe failed inside (lots of rattling)... So I took it back to get it fixed... another 120-130... Anyways, it sounded beautiful...

A few months down the road I ordered xiaogary's header. Received it, installed it, the noise is even deeper, but a few weeks after installing it, I started hearing some "rattling" noise or some "clunking" noise that I narrowed down to being around the muffler area that only happened around 2K RPM... Checked all the "J" hooks and everything - nothing was close enough to rattle against the pipe (as was first suggested by the exhaust shop) at certain RPM... the only thing that I found wrong was a small hole at the bottom of the weld between exhaust muffler and exhaust tip.

Took it back to the shop so they can fix that and make sure nothing else rattles - only got as far as lifting it... Oh, we're emission certified shop, we can't touch a car without a cat. Get it off.... Went back a few weeks later, talked to them again... they said they would fix it if it was something they installed if I had the cat back in.

So last night I put the cat back in, drove it around for a bit, the noise was still there, but quieter. Took it to the exhaust shop, they found and fixed some leaks right around muffler area (the one found earlier and another one or two above the other side of the muffler). While they were at it, i asked them to throw in another resonator (to keep the car quieter when the cat comes back out), so they did... only $24 dollars... for the parts I come to figure out later... then labor... shop fees... came out to $98... (they said on the paper I saved about $100 I think, right....)

And now the exhaust is still low and pretty quiet with the cat in, but it sounds like I might need to get my engine mounts checked out, one of the techs said that one of them might be starting to knock when you "put a lot of torque to the wheels"...

But that will be another project for another day. For now I'm happy that my exhaust stopped rattling. Tonight will be replacing the stock header with xiaogary's header if everything goes as planned. And for now I'm going outside to enjoy some BBQ or ?????? (Shishkabob done the right russian way.. )

We have just a little more control over that little bit of toque that our Aveos do have with a manual transmission, something you would only read about on forums, hunter.

      Thanks for your comment though.

Now an actual question, do we have any after market options for motor mounts?

I was thinking about that.. Has anyone done that lately? If so, what filler did you use? Do you just go to an autoparts store and ask for some?

      Re: My exhaust...

So I put the aftermarket header back in last night... Everything went in with no issues. The exhaust is a lot quieter at cruising speeds, but still has the deep sound to it when I give it some gas. Very happy with the result.

      Re: My exhaust...

Says the engine is "uncorked" without the cat :P And it's noticeably easier to accelerate... definitely noticeable diferenece above 4500 RPM
