Head replacement due to damaged valves

Looks just like mine did when my pulley broke 2 years ago. Sorry so late, I didn't see this thread.
I have an 05, bent every valve bought a rebuilt head, new valves, no problems.

Gents, I got my car back together. It fired right up but now it idles rough and the timing belt seems too loud, making an whining sound. Do you think I put too much tension on it?

Did you replace the cam position sensor? If memory serves, there is a specific relearn procedure associated with either that sensor or the crank position one.

If one of the cam gears is a tooth off, it will run, but can run roughly - are you able to get everything lined up again and verify the alignment?

If you installed the tensioner properly, and had the marks lined up as they should be, then you're good - make sure you didn't inadvertently get the plastic covers misaligned, as that can cause a heck of a lot of noise.

I used the old sensor. I will have to take a look this week when I get time, I was pretty sure I had the timing marks right. The engine also seems very responsive once its above an idle.

Troller, if you suspect tension issue, you can pretty easily pop the top cover half off to look down to the tensioner, with a flashlight you should be able to eyeball where the tension is. If it is on the mark or close you should be fine, if you have it locked to either side of the tensioner then you will need to get to the pump to re-adjust the tension. Too tight and it will tear the tensioner apart in short order, same if it is loose letting the belt flap around. You can feel the cover for noise if the belt is rubbing you should feel it on the cover.

Besides timing belt, it could be the serpentine belt. Congrats on getting the car together. Having done this recently too, it's a lot of work and the end very gratifying.
