      Engine Tick

Hey guys, so I recently replaced my head on 06 Aveo 1.6L and installed new water pump new tensioner idler pulley timing belt due to old timing belt breaking and bending valves. I installed the head and torqued everything put crank with arrow to bottom and lined my cams up and put belt on and followed proper procedure by loosening water pump turning clockwise till notch lined up tightened water pump up and spun 2 revolutions and the crank lined up and the cam gears were still both lined up put everything together and this is what it sounded like. It's a reman head also. Please HELP!!

Can't imagine anything in the timing belt loop sounding like that. It's almost like a bad bearing or something not getting enough oil, but I'm sure you've checked the oil level and are not seeing the idiot light coming on. Did you remove the top of the timing belt cover to have a look, just in case something weird is going on in there? How about a compression and leak down test, just to confirm everything is ok with that?

Yeah oil was good no codes at all and was late so gonna do a compression test today to see what I got.

If you have good compression, have you let it run up to temp at idle yet? The couple times I've rebuilt an Aveo engine it was pretty noisy on first startup but quieted down after it got hot. I'm guessing in my case the lifters had bled out, and by letting it warm up at idle they were able to fill back up and quiet down.
