      Ecotec swap....

I know how some people have been saying that the Ecotec motor may not fit in the Aveo, but i just remembered that my fathers Ion has the 2.2 Ecotec motor. Im going to take measurements of that motor and then take measurements of my engine bay. Hopefully it fits and i can go and grab an ecotec motor off of ebay and play around with it.

your gonna have to do a lot of reconfiguring...it should fit...just barely...but the engines have done a 180 compared to ours....there not facing the same direction...buttt if you can figure out if it will work the way it is in the ion/cobalt/g5. then our possibilities open up a bit more.

it shouldnt matter which way it is facing because the transmission is still facing the same direction that it does on the Aveo, nothing a F.A.S.T controller cant solve!

nah too much money.....2.2 is the cheapest of them all, and theres a 2.4 head swap that will yield about a 25 hp gain....plus there is already a turbo kit out for the 2.2. the 2.2 stock makes about 145hp and 150 ft/lb! now imagine that in the aveo!!

well i took rough (very rough) measurements of the Aveo's engine bay and the 2.2 ecotec....now the numbers tell me it should fit niceley in the bay, you may have to remove the battery tray though. the transmission on the ecotec is much smaller compared to the on on the Aveo's engine. The ecotec is a little taller than the Aveo engine but not by much.

the 2.0 is the same engine size as the 2.4 and the 2.4 has better potential with boost.

yeah but for the price of finding a 2.4 or a 2.0 (good luck) id rather have the 2.2

the 2.2 and 2.4 are better overall engines...you can get to 250WHP with a turbo easy on the 2.2 and thats really all you need in an aveo haha
