06 engine change question

I got a 06 aveo with a bad engine. From what I've read an 09 engine will work by changing a few things. I started getting the engine ready for removal and the 09 engine sittin next to the car I noticed quite a few differences, so my question in will the 09 motor work in my 06?

Finding an '06 to '08 would be a whole lot easier. 2009 was a new engine called the Ecotec.
