I keep to the speed limit, which is 100km/h for the majority of my drives. The drive home I got 7.4l/100km which is about my average.

I just picked up a 2009 Aveo. I doubt I'll get a letter since I just bought it so recently. Should I take it to my dealer and inquire about this, or should I expect something in the mail soon? (2009 Aveo LS, 4 year GM certified warranty).

You do not need the letter in order to have the recall done. Have your VIN handy, call the dealership of your choice and tell them you believe there should be an open recall on your car. They'll run your VIN to confirm and then go from there.

I just got it for my 2010 Aveo5. I'll bring it in to work tomorrow and get my parts ordered. If anyone wants me to check their eligibility, just PM me the last 8 digits of your VIN and I'll run it thru the GM VIS and PM you back

I've documented in this thread that my aveo has been affected by this problem since I have owned the vehicle. Today my aveo succumbed to the issue and stopped working. My aveo stopped being able to shift into overdrive and the check engine light turned on and another HOLD light began flashing. At this point I assumed there had to be an issue with my transmission.

I took into a Chevrolet dealership and turned the keys in. I told them the problem and asked if they could replace the spark plugs and boots as well. They told me they couldn't replace the plugs and boots because they didn't have the kits in stock. After about an hour and a half they called me back and told me my car was ready. The problem turned out to be solely my spark plugs and conveniently they were able to find a kit to replace it.

My car is driving great now. I'm about to take an hour long drive on the interstate and i'm excited to test my fuel economy with the new plugs.

well, I don't have a Letter for my 2010, but its on my GM Owner's Site, so Tuesday, I took my Scootaloo into my Chevy Dealer to get her free Tuneup, and they had used the Last Recall Kit that morning, so I took her in today, and they told me some bad news: The Demand for the Recall Kits are very High, and are in limited supply, so GM put the Kits on NATIONAL BACKORDER! they [my dealer] don't know if its gonna be a day, or a week when they get the parts in.

Not a big deal, sucks that they could not do it on the spot and you have to go back over there, but it is nothing to worry about.
