      The Rebirth

Its been a crazy 10 days, by this past Monday evening I took my car to the garage because I could only get 30 mph. Hold light flashing, and engine light flashing. Yesterday I received a call from the shop, its 2 things. First the lines from the tranny to the radiator are leaking, hopefully a easy fix. Secondly, for the misfires, darn valve cover gasket. So I bought one of those and now I am in repair mode and hopefully get going. My question should I replace wires and plugs or just clean them off?

If you replaced your spark plugs and wires about a month ago, a thourough clean should do.

If it still misfires after the clean, then I would recommend to replace.
      To clean:
      Make sure engine is cold.
      Remember where each cable goes!
Pull cables from base. NOT from cable.
Use dry absorbent old rag or cloth to clean grease /oil.
When re-connecting make sure they "click" on spark plug head.
Make sure the other end of the cables are properly conected to distributor.

I would suggest a proper engine wash after valve cover gasket is replaced, this way you can spot if oil leak has been solve with gasket or if oil leak persists.

I would also suggest upgrading you thermostat housing to the aluminum one. That plastic one will leave you stranded.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Always do what the frog says. I do! Ribbit! And yes, that plastic POS did leave me stranded on the side and out of a date...
