      Sedan or Hatch?

      Sedans have a chipped key.

      Hatchs no chip.
I beg to differ My car is a hatch back and it has a Chip.
What year? My 06 has keyless and no chip. I believe 08 is the year all cars sold had to have chipped keys.

I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

Having a remote key and a chipped key are different things.

yup. I have the same keys as dragonwarrior2016...no chip. It's expensive cause the keyless entry remote is built in

So the only way to check if dragon warrior has a chip is to get a key made from the fob without the remote in it and try to start it with it. The one without a remote built in should only run you about 20 on ebay.
If it works, you will have yourself a key that opens and starts your car, you'll just have to lock the doors with the door lock button from the inside before you lock your car.
If it doesn't, you're out 20 bucks and you know you have a chipped key. You will also have a spare key in case you lock your keys inside and your battery dies. :P

For your information I had it tested already and it does have a chip. The service tech at the dealership examined it and took it apart and there was a chip but he was kind enough not to charge me for the battery in the key.

Thank you for the info, warrior, now I can sleep well at night. Didn't know what I would do with myself... pacing back and forth in front of my computer waiting for that answer... I guess $135 it is for you, huh?

Oh, and may I say, take it easy? It's just an online discussion.

Jenny, that was already suggested and dragon warrior had his key taken apart by dealer guys and they told him that it is chipped.
