He sure IS lucky to be alive. I would thank God if that was me for giving me another chance. I wonder if he will by another aveo after this.. On 19 December last year an Aveo with 5 people in it fell off a cliff and was about 30-40 meters from the roadway... It was an icy "serpentine" road up the mountain. The car looked like a "meatball" (according to the press) but all 5 people surprisingly survived, and only a couple of them had broken bones...

I was trying to find an english article about it but only ran into one in russian.

      Update!

Neosho PD probes crash with train
      http://www.neoshodailynews.com/news/x15 ... with-train

“Yesterday’s accident on Daugherty Road only reinforces the city’s decision to focus on crossing safety,” said Neosho Mayor Richard Davidson.

The crossing was one of two the city council voted to close in April 2009, with the other being a crossing at Park Street. The closings were controversial for some time, with about 700 people signing petitions to keep the crossings open.
Sounds like these are uncontrolled crossings with no warning lights or automatic barriers. All the crossings over public roads around here have one or the other.

Then there's this comment posted by someone who lives there...

It does not matter if you close down some of these crossings if people think that they can out run a train nothing will change unless you close all of the crossings. There is no fixing stupid .People need to slow down and look always not just when you have the time. It take a few seconds to look a lifetime of heart ache for the loved ones and most importantly the engineers that witness this every time it happens. Think about how the feel when this happens because you were in a hurry.

would you even want a motor from a car driven by someone who had this happen? did they even check the oil if they didn't check for the train?

Well, he cared enough to get the pin stripe installed. Just because he got into an accident doesn't mean he was negligent about his car maintenance. It's like saying that if you got rear ended you probably didn't vacuum your car often enough. not very related. And if he got the motor, he would probably take it apart and make sure it's all good.
