05 aveo rpm drops and car dies

I have an 05 aveo. Automatic, manual everything. 220k miles on the car roughly 180k on the engine. Timing belt and pullys changed roughly 5k miles prior. New/used alternator replaced November. New battery in November as well. Replaced spark plugs due to an oil leak that filled my plugs with oil. Oil leak fixed at same time. Now all if a sudden after purchasing gas my car started losing power bucking/jerking and will eventually shut off. Car will start up right after dying with no problem. While in idle the idle will drop to about 1/2 then all of a sudden will rise to 1 1/2. It bucks and acts like it's out of gas and then dies. My dad suggested heet as he assumed I got bad gas. I added the heet, no better. I checked my oil antifreeze and transmission fluid. All are fine. My heater is still working and car isn't over heating. Any suggestions would be great.

I normally put 'bad gas' quite a way down on the list of possible suspects, however in your case, the timing of events appears to make it much more likely. But, instead of water in the gas, it sounds more like debris was sent into the fuel filter, based on the fact that it starts up ok. A fuel pressure test would almost certainly be able to confirm that. If the filter is the issue, you would see the pressure drop or simply be too low, corresponding to the engine stalling out. My understanding is that gas station filtration is normally excellent, however it certainly can't be impossible for some stuff to somehow slip by their filters, and pass into a vehicle.

But, of course it's also possible that the timing of the fill up was just a coincidence, and it's a completely different issue. If that's the case, then monitoring with an OBD realtime data stream reader would be extremely helpful in diagnosing the actual problem.

Replaced the fuel pump. No change in condition, only code being thrown is camshaft position sensor. Replaced it again, reset codes and once again camshaft position sensor code has popped up. Any ideas? I'm at a loss...

Fuel filter is located inside the fuel pump so that was changed as well.

cam shaft sensor is between the two cams on the left side (passenger side) of the engine. I have had to replace mine and it fixed the problem.
