Just a heads up: we've been deleting/banning & the occasional spammers - maybe one or two spam posts from a "new member" each week.

Sometimes they're sneaky though - they don't post in the forum, but send spam via PM directly to other members instead.

Just wanted to say if anyone gets any spam PMs, please forward the message on to Tim (daox) or me so we can drop the banhammer.

The last forum I was on made new accounts make a few legitimate posts before enabling Private Messaging.

I know vB has the option to restrict PM's to active (ie posting) members only. Not sure about phpBB. I could look, but I suppose it'll be a moot point at this time next week, once we've switched over to vB.

I was just seeing a lot of new registrations last week that weren't posting in the forum, and that's what made me wonder about possible PM spam.

Define "active". With school lately I barely have any time to read through new stuff (actually don't have time for that either now), let alone post, only on weekends.

Will my PMs get disabled just because I haven't done anything???

Active = I meant people who have posted before.

Tomorrow's Upgrade-to-vBulletin Day though, so the issue will soon be a non-issue.

(And the good news is nobody complained that they got any PM spam anyway.)
