      Thermostat Housing Bolts

Hi! I have been searching high and low for the bolts to the thermostat housing. My car started smoking and I had to be towed. I finally popped the hood, and both bolts to the tstat housing are missing. Since it is Memorial day, none of the Chevy service centers in my area are open. I have called Napa, Autozone, and everywhere else I could possibly think of. No one could tell me anything. I am guessing that they are 2 1/2", but I am unsure of the threading. I do not want to have to tap larger bolts on the block. I have already replaced the old plastic one with an aluminum back in 2007. I got to the point where I was just going to buy a new tstat housing, but they don't even come with bolts. Can anyone please help me out??? Thanks in advance. I just want my Aveo back and running!

I believe they are 2 1/2 as well but not sure of the threading. Check your area to see if there are any junkyards/scrapyards, call them up and see if you can swing by and pull the bolts out of an aveo they may have on the lot. I know in Tampa/Brandon there are a ton, Im sure there are a few across the bay.

      The bolts came off?

This is the first time I have seen this one I do not know the size/threading though. 07aveo5 suggestions sound good though.

Welcome to the forum both you btw! A lot of people from around here are coming on here as of late...too hot outside to do anything else

Find a similar bolt on the engine, remove it and take it to the hardware store. Find a similar one in the length you need. You shouldn't have to go to an autoparts store or dealer for a couple bolts. It probably an M6 bolt, but might be M8. I can't remmeber.
