Rapid Flashing On Left Turn Signal

I'm having a problem with my left turn signal. When I put the left turn signal on I get a rapid flashing and the front left turn signal blinks but the back does not.

I assumed it was the bulb so I removed and replaced the rear bulb. This did not fix the problem.

Is it possible/likely the flasher (turn signal relay) is bad? Would a bad flasher cause this problem?

I'm not really sure where to look next.

The right turn signal works fine.

      Thanks for any help/pointers.

Probably not the flasher unit. I take it the 4-way switch doesn't light that bulb either?

If not, sounds like potentially a wiring issue.

The rapid flash is actually some sort of warning that not enough current is passing through the flasher or some kind of sensor. I had an issue before where i already replaced the bulb and it lit but still the rapid flash remained. Upon obervation later that night, it turned out that the bulb i replaced was actually a bit dimmer than the working bulb on other side. I cleaned the sockets and took out the working bulb and got another one using it as a sample and discarded the first replacement. After plugging it, the rapid flash was gone, either the socket cleaning or the new bulb replacement did it.

I have the same problem on my 2006 Aveo. The problem with mine was with the socket that the bulb plugs in to. The contact on the bottom that connects with the middle of the bulb was fine but the side contact wasn't connecting to the outside of the bulb. I can get it to work intermittently by pushing the bulb against the contact.
I found your posting while looking for a replacement socket online so I thought it only fair to share my results.

I had the same problem and all I did to fix it was bend the bottom tab the connects to the middle of the bulb up a bit to put more tension on the bulb in the holder. It fixed my problem.

Thank you for the tip, I did just that and fixed the issue in less than five minutes.

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to say thanks! I bent both tabs a little & my turn signals work again.

Bad bulb is the most likely culprit
