I don't think this new leak is related to the valve cover gasket replacement. Sounds like either coolant or tranny fluid (assuming you have an automatic). Have you checked to see which fluid is going down? You need to get underneath with a light and find out exactly where the drip is coming from. But be aware that the source of the leak could be higher up, with the fluid being channeled down to where you're seeing it drip. If you still have that pos plastic thermostat housing, it's a prime suspect - they crack like clockwork and can pin-hole spray in any direction.

oil shouldn't be on the radiator. Find out if its oil, trans fluid, or coolant.

Thermostat housing looks fine its new and shiny must have have already been replaced prior to when I bought it .so there's no oil lines goin near or under the radiator .what is the line that goes from the engine down there that might be the problem it looks llike its seeping but I get a really good leak if I just let it idle.its definatly oil its dark brown and doesn't have that rich smell atf.my car is automatic does this car have oil cooling lines that go down.there? I'm gnna make time after eork to get under there

Yes, that's transmission fluid leaking down there. The fluid from inside the transmission goes to the lower part of the rad to be cooled. You need to get that fixed ASAP, or you might be kissing that gentle smooth transmission goodbye!

      Good luck, happy driving!

There is no such thing as "merc five".
