      I'm thinking I need a thermostat

So driving home I noticed that my temp got up to normal and then went back down and kept bouncing around. I got a pic of normal temp and where it kept dropping down to.

Would it climb back up to just under 1/2 then drop back down to 1/4 before stopping? My 09 has always done that since it's just the thermostat actuating.

      If it's not throwing a code, I wouldn't replace it (and I haven't).

It'll drift between them for about 10 minutes while I drive. Usually it finally gets up to temp and stays there after a while.

mine started doing the same thing, i got a code cant remember the code right now but it was for thermostat circuit open, and it would warm up to normal temp but when cruising down the highway it would drop to where yours is in the second pic, if i was on gear and holding the gas it would be like in the first picture, but as soon as i put it on neutral to coast it would drop, i still havent replaced my thermostat because its still winter here in mn and its a $90 part.

I would check fluid level first and foremost, if it's low it could give you a temperature fluctuation when the system loses fluid flow. If you are doing the thermostat I would recommend replacing the entire manifold and thermostat housing. Dorman makes an aftermarket that is all aluminum and includes the thermostat. Since the water manifold is plastic, it does not take much for it to go bad, especially since the thermostat on our 2010 is 221 degrees! If you plan it ahead of time you can get it for under $100.

Mine does the same damn thing! It’s kind of annoying. I’ve checked the fluid level and it’s a little bit low but not anything to be super worried about. My heater has also been going weird here and there. Wondering if it has something to do with the thermostat. My temp gauge likes to stay at the just above quarter mark. When I drive it will reach just under 1/2 thing and then drop back down again.

Yeah that is a little strange. I've never had a car bounce around like that on me.
