      Question Hold Button/Light, help please?

      Hey everyone,

My name is Nanci, I own a Silver '06 Aveo Sedan. I am having issues with the hold button and light, more specifically, I cant seem to figure out why the hold light will not illuminate on the dash compartment where it is supposed to. I checked all the fuses and they are all okay... I am worried that I have and probably still continue to accidentally hit the Hold button, but I am never sure if it is on or not... I actually hardly know what its purpose is... does this make sense? Anyway, summary, no hold light, cant figure out why it wont turn on, how do i fix this?

Thank You in advanced, all suggestions appreciated!

I did a bit O'Reserch and found this:
      http://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f82/g...h-today-11518/

I have a manual transmission so I don't no nothing about no hold lights.

So it has to do with a automatic transmission. I think it's there to keep the transmission from shifting. Say going down hill (steep hills) it keeps the car from running away if you put in a lower gear.

It could be that the hold switch it's self is broken. So here is a test to see if the hold mode is on, drive and continue to accelerate. If the RPM go high, hit the switch the RPMs will go low indicating the transmission is shifting and the HOLD mode disengaged.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

That's exactly what it does, "Holds the gear you're in". I wouldn't worry too much about accidentally hitting it (I never have) and if you do manage to hit it on it becomes pretty obvious when it's engaged since it will no longer shift up or down. As per the previous poster check to see if it even works, poke it and see if it stops shifting
