Cold air intake (especially if the climate is dry and you have little chance of standing water on the road), headers from xiaogary (cat-delete version if you have no emmisions testing), remove one of the resonators and change the restrictive muffler to a better-flowing one. Iridium spark plugs.

in your case i would look into a 16v head swap ( i will presume you know what to investigate as far as what it will entail)..

nice... so I must try and get an aftermarket muffler?

I was talking more along the lines of removing the whole original setup and going with a straight pipe and a straight-through muffler at the end, maybe add a resonator in the middle to keep some of the noise out of the cabin. How strict are your emission laws over in SA?

well you can probably swap a head from a similar sized 16v version i think singapore has a 1.4 16v but i dont know what is available in you area. you will need to compare head gaskets to see it it will bolt to the block, and the manifolds throttle body at least. if you are not worried about the vvt, you could just keep running it off your stock wiring and ecu but adapting the old sensors and parts onto the new stuff. if you want to have it all, i would suggest getting it all and just swapping in the whole turnkey setup..

if this is something you are remotely interested in i can explain further.

What's up Dare? Welcome to the site and enjoy the Aveo. Can't wait to see the upgrades that you plan on doing to it.

      Re: Dare2Ride Aveo 1.5 LS 2006

      Welcome! Im from joburg.

Ok just to clear a few things up for you guys.
In SA we have the 1.5l 8valve motor as in dare2rides car, we then got a later model with the 1.6l 16valve motor.

The 8valve motor is nearly identical to the opel corsa motors we have. We have 1.3l 8v turbo motors make 100kw on the wheels over here. There are guys who put a 16v head from a daewoo on the corsas so im sure it will work on the chev.
      Current:
      2000 Opel Corsa GSi
      Ex:
      1995 Opel Kadett 200t S - R.I.P
      1997 Opel Corsa 130iE - Sold
      1989 Opel Kadett 160 GSE - Sold

      Roughly: kW * 1.3 = HP

      So, 130 hp.
