yeah it will bolt up.
Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
Good to know, will swap that this weekend - ordering fresh timing parts too.
Any suggestions on engine removal / disconnecting things?
Any suggestions on what BRAND of parts from rockauto.com for timing pieces?
I have a brand new idler wheel, all I need is belt, water pump, tensioner.

Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
timing pieces i cant help with what is best for the price, that varies car to car and i haven't bought first gen aveo stuff.. Try to get a metal impeller for the water pump, and a "name brand" for the belt.
Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
Will definitely look into the metal impeller.
The belt I got last time was a Goodyear Gatorback.
Needless to say - it held together and didn't tear ANYWHERE, after dragging THROUGH the plastic idler wheel and digging a notch the entire width of the belt. I'd call that a good belt!

So a few more questions and I'll have the motor out.
a) how do I depressurize the fuel system
b) how do I disconnect the fuel system from under the intake assembly (hard to see ANYTHING)
c) Do I pull the motor WITHOUT the trans, or WITH?
If answer to C is WITH... things will get a bit more interesting? I have to remove the driveshafts, correct?
Or just the CV joint?

Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
the answer to c is this: if you pull all the pulleys etc off the front of the engine (a lot of "extra work") then you might have the room to pull the flywheel and clutch out of the bell housing and off the input shaft before you hit the frame rail.
you can drop the k frame with everything, jut undo the tops of the struts and let the a arms and everything drop. undo the shifter, steering column and exhaust and you can dri it pretty far, unhook the wirig and you could take it out from underneath.
the swap the engine and put it back in.
or pull the engine and tranny together split them, and put them back in, that is the axles instead of other things..
its all about what you are comfortable with.
if you try for just the engine and it does not fit, you will have to do more. but it might be the easier attempt.
fuel system depressurization.. few ways to do this, but start car and pull the fuel pump relay/fuse let it stall. then press the pin in the valve on the fuel rail to leak the rest down.. open the gas cap.
to disconnect the fuel line you might need line separating kit, its cheap, you clip it over the line and slip in up into the joint,
and pop the clip /lines apart.

Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
Well, seeing as I am limited on space in the garage - and have a full size motor lift, I'm going to have to pull the motor from up top.
So, safe to say instead of beatin around the bush, takin' pulleys off, hoping it'll fit etc, I should just go for pulling the trans with it...
What's attached to the trans that's gotta go? I know I'll have to dismantle CV shafts and remove axles, then it's just the linkage and a wire or two right?
As for fuel, I CAN'T start the car, lol... hence the motor swap. Valves are shot, timing area is shot as well, so no starting. I saw a cap on the fuel line like a cover for an A/C access, probably just a shrader valve in there to push in right?
I'll call the dealer on how to get the fuel lines off.

Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
sounds like youve gotten it all covered, and thought out.
Re: Ahoy! There she blows!
Ugh, was just told by an ASE certified tech that it HAS to come out from the bottom... not even possible in my garage.

How hard is it to drop it from the bottom compared to the top?
