not every race car gets rebuilt every race. i have worked with people who race and daily drive their cars and put plenty of miles on them with nothing but double screen (from a screen door or window) as an air filter. Some even running ITBs with no filters. including dirt track cars.
also when you compare race engine to daily drivers the tolerances would make the issue more common if it existed.
i am not going to argue because there is a lot of "evidence" by the people trying t get you to spend an Extra $50 for their filter saying i am wrong. But for how many engines i have seen personally, and one a professional level, believe me when the difference in particulates between the filter will not damage the engine.
