dont you have like 6 other threads about transmissions?
the engine is a gm family 1 engine? i think, so odds are any transmission that bolts up to a family 1 engine can be made to work.
but that is not absolute.

Explain why you want to change the transmission if your going to keep the 1.6?
You will never make enough power out of your engine to break a d16 tranny, ive seen some ppl run the d16 at over 200 whp for quite a long time without any problems.
If you keep your 1.6 but put a say a d20, its gonna fit no problem (i originaly had the d16 on my 2.0) but the gear ratios will be different, you might actually lose performance because the ratios dont match the engine's torque curve and power band.
When i installed the d20 on my 2.0 i immidiately felt a big difference in power delivery because the gear ratios matched the engine's power band.
Dont do anything stupid like that. If you need a new mount then just get a new mount, they all use the same mount anyways!

Namasys. your are correct in all you say, but he has an automatic. you didnt refer to that or did you?
Re: Transmissions that can be used with the 1.6???
You wanna swap from auto to manual?? sigh
If your going thru all the trouble for that get a d16, at least it will be for that specific engine. Too much trouble for the time and money for my tastes.
You do realise your will need a complete clutch kit with the flywheel probably, since torque converters dont work with manual gearboxes lol.
Way too much trouble man, keep your auto, buy a manual in the future.

Re: Transmissions that can be used with the 1.6???
its not that I need a manual, I just want a small turbo on the aveo without replacing the tranny, I want about 160 at the wheel max

160 at the wheels, with about (for figures) a 20% drive train loss = 200hp at the crank.
i hate to say it, but you wont double your stock hp with a small turbo.
