Aveo 2.0L Broken Trans Mount!

So I was driving around town the other day normally then after coming off the line of a stop sign I heard this snapping noise followed by crazy engine vibrations thru the cabin of the car.

After some inspection and to my great surprise, I noticed the bolt that holds the transmission to the mount had SNAPPED in half

I took some pics:

Since putting the 2.0 in there, I noticed alot more engine movement due to the soft nature of the mounts on this car, so since I had to take appart the transmission mount, I decided to fill it with windshield urethane.

The soft mounts if what probably caused the bolt to snap in half in the 1st place, so having that mount stiffened up is going to help alot, and I cant wait to see the difference in engine response too :D

The hard part was taking the rubber out of the mount before filling it up with the urethane, that took a good hour of work with a dremel rotary tool and a nice sharp knife.

Filled mount:

I also made myself a nice gift while at the store. These were 1/2 price, I couldnt resist since my tools are well.. no comment haha

mounts are on my list of projects:

along these lines:

eliminate the single horizontal pivot point to get rid of the engine movement.

Wow I knew that mount was crappy, but I never thought the bolt would actually snap!! LOL I'm surprised it hasn't happened to me with the extra power/torque and track use.

I filled mine too (with hockey puck pieces) as that mount is pure mush from factory.

Yeah that mount was pretty crappy, i couldn't beleive how soft the rubber was in there before i took it out.

The mount is still in the curing process, it should be good by the weekend.

You didn't need to remove the stock rubber. Even with it, you will use a lot of window weld. Also, I wish that bolt broke rather than the transmission housing itself. Between the filled mounts and my new brace which supports the lower part of the trans, the shifter does not move at all. I can hear and feel more engine vibration though. Don't forget to fill the other mount and your torque mount as well.

If you are wondering what I meant by the transmission breaking, here is the blog post for it.
